Houghton Independents Strategy for deliver for residents of Houghton Regis

PRE-ELECTION

WHAT - High profile at all public events. Approaching residents, engaging in conversation, listening.

WHY - Essential to understand the needs and wants of residents.

WHAT - Network with all community leaders. Build effective working relationships.

WHY – Essential to be able to deliver residents wants and needs.

WHAT – Support local groups in delivery of community events.

WHY – The way to build a sense of belonging.


ELECTION

Selection of candidates to stand as Independent must share Independent Principles and values,

have a good working knowledge of the town, be willing to work as hard as is needed to deliver

change for the town, be passionate about Houghton Regis and love the town and its people.


POST ELECTION

What – Identify the strengths of the candidates elected.

WHY –  Play to people’s strengths.

WHAT –Allocate roles on The Town Council and Central Beds accordingly.

WHY –  Independents want to facilitate change as soon as they are elected.

WHAT -Control the agenda and select the decision-making criteria.

WHY –  The way to facilitate change.

WHAT - Set up central access point for information

WHY  -   Essential to bring the people of the town with the decisions made.

WHAT – Use outside experts.

WHY –  The town deserves the best professional advice available to be able

              to grasp the potential opportunities that will arise over the next 5-10 years.
